Don brings a unique blend of personal training, managerial experience, and national presenting to the Energy Club. With over twelve years of managing clubs, Don enjoys trying to bring the best for each member when they visit the club. Over the last twenty years, Don has worked with thousands of clients. Individuals from boy scout troops to 95 years of age, general fitness to cancer and Parkinson’s patients, athletes from all levels (collegiate, NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL, and Professional Boxing) have all seen development from time training with him. Since 2003, Don has also been presenting nationally on various fitness topics with over 250 speaking engagements.

Bruce Picture

Bruce Croom II

Fitness has been a vital part of Bruce’s life for ten years and counting. Because of his fitness belief’s, Bruce plans to have a career in fitness for the rest of his life

His professional experience began on the beautiful island of St. Thomas, U.S.V. I., where he held just about every job position at America’s Paradise Gym for almost two years. Upon leaving the island and moving back to the states, he then was employed as the Fitness Director at Bally Total Fitness for a period of a about one and half years. During his time at Bally’s, he set profound company sales records in Personal Training sales in only a few months after receiving the position.

At the Energy Club, he has held positions as Assistant Fitness Director, Personal Trainer, Group Personal Trainer, and Group Exercise Instructor. As the Owner of Fitness Xtra, Bruce has personally overseen a number of outdoor  Boot Camp style programs through his company and also through other fitness centers, not to mention the individual personal training of over 500 clients to date. Throughout his career as a Fitness Professional, Bruce has had the opportunity to change the lives of individuals starting from the age of nine to the age of eighty-four.

Bruce has spoken at seminars on fitness, has conducted workshops on stretching, and has been interviewed for radio and internet. He is a writer for The Urban Voice where he puts out a monthly fitness column and blog. At the Energy Club, he personal trains,  instructs boot camp, teaches HIIT/Tabata Classes, oversees teen training programs, and does kids sports specific training.

Bruce’s education includes attending Norfolk State University (1989-1993), Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA), and Strayer University. He is now actively obtaining a degree in Public Health (MPH). Bruce has professional certifications and CEC’s through the leaders in the industry to include, the American Council on Exercise (ACE), the National Strength Professionals Association (NSPA), and the National Exercise and Sports Training Association(NESTA). He holds a Core Fitness Instructor certification along with other fitness class specialties such as BOSU, ABS, BOOT CAMP and CrossFit. Fitness is an ever changing field and Bruce will never stop seeking or obtaining education as a Fitness Professional.

Since Bruce started his professional experience in the fitness industry, he has adopted fitness and wellness as a lifestyle. He hopes to pass on the vast amount of knowledge that he daily acquires and that he will continue to acquire throughout his career as a Fitness Professional.

David brings 20 years of experience to the training profession.  He began learning the craft by actively immersing himself in health and fitness.  He considers training to be more than a job but rather a passion that has become a way of life.  David’s ultimate goal is to move beyond all boundaries and build a strong personal bond with each client.  He believes an individual cannot be categorized based on a predetermination of set criteria.  He strives to continuously improve and evolve his fitness knowledge base.  David’s specialties include post-rehabilitation, sports conditioning, General fitness training, and athletic training (sport specific-swimming, basketball, lacrosse, baseball)

Alex has been certified as a trainer since 2002, working both as a personal trainer and group exercise instructor. She has experience working with clients of all ages and varying fitness goals. She has proven success with helping clients achieve not only weight loss, but also improved strength, flexibility, and cardiovascular fitness. She is especially concerned with helping her clients develop proper mobility and lifting technique. Alex emphasizes functional movements in her programs that rely primarily on exercises using body weight, kettlebells and barbells. Alex encourages her clients to discover the limitless potential of their bodies, irrespective of age or athletic background.

Stevon Scott has been in the personal training/sports medicine field for over seven years and has worked with almost every type of population and condition. He holds multiple certifications. His areas of expertise include; functional explosive training, linear speed, agility, corrective exercise techniques, Olympic lifting & bodybuilding, weight management and cutting edge spinal-sheath activation techniques. He works with special populations who have severe orthopedic handicaps, post rehab individuals and enjoys working with the youth population. Stevon has been a speaker at lifestyle/health management clinics throughout Pennsylvania and Northern Virginia, and enjoys empowering his clientele through education. His own athletic experience includes wrestling, soccer and ten years on a swim team. He has also provided sports performance training for elite athletes from a wide variety of sports including Penn State and Notre Dame football.

Alex is a certified personal trainer and is credentialed through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM). Alex also holds certifications as a USAW Level 1 Weightlifting Coach, Strong First Girya (kettlebell) Instructor, and as a TRX Instructor. He has spent the last decade in the health and fitness industry helping clients reach their fitness goals. Alex’s expertise has given him the knowledge to tailor workouts to a broad range of ages, abilities, and athletic backgrounds. Since 2005, Alex has been a group fitness instructor teaching multiple formats including kettlebell training, TRX suspension training, spin, boot camp, and high intensity interval training.

Eben has been training at The Energy Club for several years and involved with many different aspects of training. He teaches H.I.T. classes, Crossfit, Bootcamp and New Year New You (Energy’s weight loss program) as well as coaching members one-on-one. Before Eben joined the Energy Club, he served through the University’s Health System at the University of Delaware to train student athletes individually and in group settings. Groups ranged from two to 120 people. His engaging and supportive personality served well as he trained student athletes and undergraduates from other universities as well. Other highlights include proficiency in mixed martial arts, wrestling and baseball. Clients enjoy Eben’s nature and ability to make them feel comfortable. Eben is gifted at addressing their individual needs and helping them exceed their goals. His eventual goal is to attend medical school, become a doctor and continue incorporating a holistic approach in helping people reach their ultimate level of physical health.

Kiana has had a lifelong passion for fitness and wellness. She has been in the fitness industry 15 years starting at a group fitness instructor and decided to fulfill her calling and quit the corporate world to become a full time trainer. Kiana takes a holistic approach to training meaning to not only train the physical body, but also to train the mind as well to adapt a healthy lifestyle to maintain progression and results. In the initial assessment, Kiana will evaluate and weaknesses or imbalances in the body. The program design will then concentrate on the development of those areas to create an overall balance in muscular control. She prides herself on not only making the program not only effective but also enjoyable to keep her clients motivated!

Ishmieal KamaraIsh Kamara

After years of bouncing around the minor leagues of professional basketball, Ishmieal decided to take his passion for athletics, exercise, and people, combine it with his background in teaching and education, and hit the fitness industry. He believes that “there is nothing better than helping someone discover their full potential and watching them take off on a path they never thought was possible.”

Ishmieal enjoys teaching individuals what works best for them. His goal is to develop a strong work ethic that instills confidence in the individual and helps unlock that “inner athlete” so that they strive for more.

“It’s a beautiful thing when a client goes from simply wanting to lose weight or build muscle to running a 5k, competing in a figure/bodybuilding competition, or raising their emotional self esteem and confidence in themselves through the roof!”

Whether those desires are increase nutritional knowledge, weight loss, or a specific client goal.   She has proven success with helping clients achieve their personal goals, but also improve strength, confidence, cardiovascular endurance, and the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Adrian started helping individuals become healthier in 2004.  From the knowledge he had been acquiring since his teens as a competitive athlete, he began helping small groups achieve their fitness goals simply for his own enjoyment.  Seeing how much of a difference he was able to make in an individual’s life put him on a quest for more knowledge in the fitness industry.  He has facilitated in the operation of fitness establishments, managed individual diets, worked to enhance the physical capabilities of adolescents, and of course personal trained.  Adrian came across The Energy Club by chance, but was ecstatic that he finally found a place where he would want to be personal trained by its personal trainers.   After 17 years of fitness experience and education, he found that The Energy Club’s approach to fitness, aligned with the quality of trainers on staff, was where he wanted to make his stand in the industry.  Moving forward, he wants to meet and encourage anyone who wants to be “better.”
